Scott and Emma – Yuck!

July 15, 2008 · Filed Under Rants

Man, I cannot stand that Scott and Emma are together. The last issue of Astonishing X-men (25)was almost unbearable to read for the true Jean Grey fan. At one point Beast says Scott has never been happier. Puhlease! And Storm cowers under Emma and asks permission to join the team. Storm begs Emma. I mean, c’mon! When did Emma become the most popular female character in the Marvel universe. I seriously cannot wait until she is dethroned. It is a slap in the face to the concept of hero or heroine.

Yes, I really dislike Emma and if Mavel ever expects me to believe Scott would shack up with the woman who tried to kill Jean back in the Dark Phoenix Saga, they can keep on holding their breath.

I’m waiting for the big “It’s all a dream.” issue so we can all wake up.

“I mean, c’mon! When did Emma become the most popular female character in the Marvel universe.”

When Grant Morrison was shoving her down our throats in his X-Men run. I admit, I liked Emma during the Generation X years, but ever since Grant’s X-Men run, she became more and more unlikeable, making me wonder why Scott would ever choose her over Jean.

Emma Frost and Scott Summers? That’s the *worst* pairing *ever*. out of all the women in the marvel universe why white queen? Grant Morrison ruined x-men for me. He took this series and dragged it down to hell. In my opinion, Jean and Scott were made for each other. It was meant to be. I miss when the White Queen was underrated. The soap opera tryst was amusing, but no. I can’t see her as Scott’s significant other.

I’m sorry, I just think it’s so lame and unrealistic how everyone in the comic book believes she is superior to Jean Grey and even Jean Grey agrees so before she dies. Massive failure.

First & foremost, Emma Frost is a WH*RE! Thats right, I said it. I mean, she weasel her way, trying to be where she doesn’t belong. Let’s face it. Jean has everything Emma doesn’t. Beauty (if you remember, Emma had, ‘cosmetic surgery’), power (So she had the power of Phoenix for 1.5 issues, so what, try over 30 years of that power bitch!), and lastly, a family (Scott, Rachel, Cable…tho he belong to Maddie) I mean, Jean is the FIRST X-Woman! If not X-member period, and Emma can’t stand it! That blond playboy wanna be bimbo needs another good ass whoopin!

This is exactly why I have discontinued reading x titles…Emma disgusts me, I need Jean back…

The Scott/Emma thing was an interesting plot twist that got dragged out too long. Jean is the heart and soul of the X-Men and writers need to find ways to develope the character other than killing her off.

    yep we need Jean Back!

  8. Zoey on June 15th, 2009 4:22 am

Yea, I totally hate EMMA “disgusting” FROST. She ruin everything! Oh, i really miss Jean Grey): Like whenever i read a x-men comic, the first thing i look out for is her. Feel like vomitting when Scott and Emma is together. If Jean really come back, I think she shld be with some other guy who will love her FOREVER. Scott doesn deserve her, honestly.

“Jean is the heart and soul of the x-men”, yeah! and absolutly boring, I’ve never cared about her,I’ve alwas liked Rouge better, and now I’m very pleased that she is out and for once,I hope that she’d just stay dead.

    I can’t see Scott loving another woman … T_T Pleaseeeeeee …
I want Scott and Jean back !(c’mon … somebody … find for Emma another man … but not Scott !He’s Jean’s !)

    Best pairing ever!

I really dislike that people pick on Emma, sure she’s not the nicest out there, but come on, that’s why we like her.

But the one at fault here is Scott, he’s a jerk and if we look at it at first, he has an UNHEATHLY obsession with Jean, he DITCHED his wife and son after he found out that Jean was alive again, that guy needs to go and hang himself

And why I believe they won’t take Jean back now is that she’s too powerful and a bit of a godmodder and also a bit to pefect for my taste. She needs to be humanized before brought back.

  13. MN on January 24th, 2010 7:27 pm

You know what would be funny … when Jean comes back, and Emma leaves Scott, those two should become best friends!

But on a serious note, i used to hate Emma … alot. I love Jean. But i think Frost is good with Scoot. He became cold lately and that seems to go good with Emma. Jean needs someone that will love her .. like Logan, or maybe even Warren.

So lets hope for the best!

The problem is only – Scott loves Emma) So you’re gonna have to suck it up. Emma has style, she is sexy, cold, smart and interesting. If Summers loved Jean he would tell it to her when she was dying on his hands. People who call Emma a whore amuse me – she slept with Shaw, Namor and Tony Stark, but between these man there were long periods of time. AND IT ALL OUTSIDE THE HOLY BOUNDS OF MARRIAGE! I mean, what a bitch, right? If you call it being a whore you should talk to your grandparents about that, they will be proud of you.)
Too bad for Emma haters – she is amazing, she is the most beautiful woman of Marvel Universe, so what that she had plastic surgery? She wanted to be her best at everything and she is a perfection. She certainly doesn’t anyone’s approval. She has Scott)

Why do I get the feeling that almost every Jean/Scott fans have no idea what Scott and Emma’s relationship looks like? Like they never read the comics. They probably still think Emma is controlling Scott mentally, that she is a replacement for Jean. Do you think Emma has so little self-respect to ever consider being in THAT kind of a relationship? Look at her – you think a man can not be crazy about her? Seriously?..
The thing Scott and Emma share is pure, funny as it sounds, with him being so boring and plain, with her being so bitchy and cruel and cold – they love each other and it’s a very sincere, soft feeling they are not afraid to show each other.
They are also very sexy together, very tactile. Emma has made a happy man out of Scott, she made him strong, manly, made him fight and win and think and try to be better. She teases him, she questioned him, she forces him to face things he is afraid to face. He is not a boy that loved a beautiful girl named Jean. He is a grownup man who loves, has constant sex with, respects and needs a grownup woman named Emma Grace Frost. It’s a great change, it’s one of the best things that happened in Marvel universe and one of the things that changed the most.

Emma just seems so fake to me for some reason. I have to admit i stopped reading x-men after Grant Morrison. That’s how much i hate what he did to the characters. Picked up when joss was writing then left if again. But it seems that when i grab a graphic novel.. she is always like “oh i love it when u are like this blah blah”. Wouldn’t surprise me if she fakes it. Sorry Scott!

As far as Emma no longer controlling him mentally. Yep it did not start on the right foot. Then jean making Scott go to Emma to prevent some terrible future. How convenient eh? Makes me doubt this relationship tremendously. Now as for her having little self respect…um..when she was having this so called affair. I’m sorry.. psychic affair. Why was she dressing up as phoenix and made her hair red? Oh. Because Scott likes her like that. In that issue of endsong did she not tell him “i know u think of her”. Even though they then try to establish as Scott wanting Emma. Now. Jean has been dead for a while so it would only be natural for Scott to have developed some feelings for her. But to claim that Scott and Jean’s relationship was just puppy love. And that Emma is the love of Scott’s life… please. That’s where i lose the little respect that i have for this relationship.

It is not common especially nowadays to bump into ppl that are married for years and years. It is extremely rare. But everyone (i don’t care who u are) likes to see a romance that lasts. That is why superman has Louis. And Mr. Fantastic has the invisible woman. Scott and Jean were like that. They were one of the most popular couples out there. I really think it is just a matter of time. Before someone says.. um.. why did we do that. Um. For the same reason we gave them leather costumes to make them more mysterious and realistic. So what’s up with the big bright X? Er..well. And why is beast dressed up as the beast from “Beauty and the Beast”? I could go on and on.

I can understand why you and many others don’t like this couple and I respect your opinion. I just wanted to explain why I DO love this couple.
Firs of all – answering the question of Emma’s self-respect – she turned into the Phoenix on their sessions to seduce Scott and to have fun. She admitted never having real feelings towards him at the beginning of the affair. However – there is at least one scene of Scott and Emma kissing while she was herself – blond and all. (New X-Men v1 #136). After Jean discovered the affair, she saw the truth in Emma’s mind and recognised true love there – you believe the Phoenix has the power to do that, don’t you? Because if it can’t, no one can. Also, Emma admitted true feelings towards Summers to Wolverine and in her own arc in “X-Men – Manifest Destiny #2″, she had no one to lie to about that, it was the issue based on her thoughts. In that issue she tells that she doesn’t deserve Cyclops and even has a nervous breakdown. During the whole “Divided we Stand” story she is very upset that Scott doesn’t tell her a secret he’s hiding that practically eats him alive, and she has hundreds of chances to read his mind or make him open the “box” with the secret within his mind – but she decides to let him ruin the relationship instead because she doesn’t want to poke around in hi head without his permission.
As of Cyclops’s feelings – there are certain moments, too. First of all we have to agree that he wasn’t in love with Emma until she basically destroyed him in “Astonishing X-Men”. He was angry with her but when he realized she risked her life for the X-Men when she was driven insane by Cassandra Nova, he fell in love with her and admitted it right in the middle of the fight, which surprised her a whole lot. He’s been saying it ever since. Other highlights: Scott forcing Emma to share their darkest criminal secrets and saying that he still loves her and that if everyone else kick them out he wouldn’t care. Scott telling the X-Men that Emma is a powerful telepath that he loves and cannot stop if it comes to that. Or his thinking about her in “Cable #6″, saying to himself that he knows she will never look into his mind without his consent. Or the whole “Phoenix Endsong” thing – he wasn’t even tempted to tell Jean anything about love, you can say it’s because Jean was the Phoenix at that time, but it didn’t stop him from kissing Emma and hugging her and smiling at her when she was Phoenix for a short time, even if it was very inappropriate at that moment. Or “Phoenix Warsong” – he told Emma that he can’t help loving her, he just doesn’t trust her.
I’m not even counting the whole other universes where they had children or were married (in the House of M he could have anything he desired deeply, he didn’t want to marry Jean, he was with Frost), or when Emma seduced him in the Exiles v4, or even where he killed himself in “Astonishing X-Men: Ghost Boxes” because Emma was dead and he “was coming to her” (c).

I only named the moments I remembered, there are many other things that show that their love is true and not faked. I just want to ask you not to judge the book by it’s cover – if you don’t read the comics, how can you ever know it this couple is something true? I read anything there is about them – their fights, him even calling her a “sick bitch” once, her ignoring him, his sleeping on a couch. But they are funny and beautiful together, I’m sorry that you can’s see it, but I understand how bad it is to lose your favorite couple if you’re a Jean/Scott fan. But don’t you think it’s time?.. It’s been what, 10 years now? Jean was resurrected once during that time and Scott had plenty of chances to tell her he loves her – he didn’t. It’s just over. Emma is a great person, I’m glad she exists, it’s a shame that she is hated so much.

I’m not real fond of Scott/Emma. They have their moments but they’re very hit or miss. Got to agree with another user, the whole notion that Scott & Jean’s relationship was just puppy love that ran too long is bull-s***. How did they go from being a love that defied death itself to just being overlong puppy love? What about Kitty Pryde & Colossus, is that just puppy love?

Even sadder, there was no real reason to destroy Scott & Jean’s relationship other than Morrison had a hard on for Emma and Quesada hated Jean and hates any hero having a relationship that isn’t ultra-screwed up (though there were writers even before hand who intentionally or not demonized & vilified the relationship between Scott & Jean) or isn’t a single swinging bachelor.

I like Jean and I like Emma. Scott had a very long and meaningful relationship with Jean, but it ended and he moved on with Emma. Its a done deal unless they break up. I think that this should be the chance for Jean to finally move on to someone else like Logan. She needs more character growth. She needs to be a little more relatable too.

  20. Elmo on August 5th, 2010 12:16 am

Scott and Emma?? HELL NO!! not because im a hater of Emma or a fan of Jean but its Jean who has been w/ Scott since the beginning of Xmen therefore it should be them as well near or in the end.. Emma has been turning cold to Scott lately so that could be a hint of the end of their relationship..

as far the idea where as Jean will be paired to Logan, well, there might be a possibility upon Jean’s return..
