Much like her namesake, the Phoenix, this is one red head that keeps coming back for more.  Kotobukiya is releasing Jean Grey in her Jim Lee costume as part of their Marvel Bishoujo line. Striking a sexy pose and ready for action she makes a great complement to the Psylocke and Rouge statues already out. This stunning statue can be preorder now for $49.99 at Big Bad Toy Store with a release date of August 2011.

Jean Grey is one of the most popular women in comic history. To pay tribute to her, Yamashita Shunya drew another illustration for her, after his picture of Phoenix. As an Omega class mutant, she has telepathic and telekinetic powers, the figure captures her focusing all her might in a battle.

The blue and yellow suit is a return to the origins, it molds to her super model body shape. Yamashita Shunya retains her muscular form, but softened the lines so that she seem more delicate and fit better with the Japanese bishojo style.

I found this very interesting post from http://manknee3.wordpress.com. They posted a custom action figure of Jean Grey in one of her X-Factor costumes. Not one of Jean’s best costumes to be sure but still great if you are collecting her many wardrobes. As with other custom action figures, Jean as been pieced together using part from other female action figures such as Storm and the Invisible Woman. What do you think?

A lot of first in this custom. My very first heroine custom project. Also, my first crack on sculpting. Though minimal sculpting, I still enjoyed it. This is also my first attempt to paint the eyes. Haven’t still get the hang of it. Still needs a lot of practice.

I’ve been a big fan of Jean Grey and the X-Men for as long as I can remember. And I’m also a big fan of anime and Japanese culture. When I heard that Japanese figure making company ‘Kotobukiya’ was making a line that they called Marvel Bishoujo, I was really excited! They started off with Rogue, Black Widow, and Scarlet Witch… now, they’ve added not only Psylocke to their repertoire, but…

They’re not Bowen Designs figures, but they’re definitely Jean, and they capture her rather nicely in both figures. The links that I provided have not only pictures, but you can also put in pre-orders for both versions–I definitely did!

The Sideshow collectables team has just given every reason to make Jean Grey fans rise from the ashes of despair. Coming the first quarter of 2009, a beautiful 13-inch Jean Grey statue decked out in her ‘90s outfit. That’s right I said “‘90s outfit.”

In the past, our favorite fiery red head has been known to wear a variety of costumes. However, only the ‘90s outfit created by Jim Lee has held such a strong hallmark in the heart of Jean fans due to her heavy exposure in the X-men Animated Series or aka the Golden era of Jean Grey-Summers.

Fans would note that Jean in her ‘90s outfit is a rare commodity. Most statues and busts done in Jean’s likeness have solely been in her vintage outfits, dark or green Phoenix uniforms, or alternatives such as the New X-men suite or Black Queen costume. This statue marks the début of Jean in her ‘90s outfit and if you can’t stop staring at it, there must be something wrong with you!

My original thought when I saw this statue was YES! Sideshow gets the character of Jean—they understand who she actually is and aren’t trying to impose an image on her like they did with their Emma Frost statue last year (whose face looked so realistic it was almost generic).

You’ll note that Sideshows has released a variety of other X-characters in their previous line, most notably their X-men vs. Sentinel Diorama which consisted of the Astonishing X-men battling sentinels. Although the price tag was a bit high (with each statue being roughly around 300s), Sideshow was able to capture the essence of the X-men.  My only complaint is that I would preferred a fiery telekensis energy instead of pink energy. But beggars can’t be choosers, and I’ve already pre-ordered mine and so should you.

This glass was purchased at the Charlotte Comic Convention if July of 2005. I had asked Mr. Cockrum, in poor health, if he was able to do a simple sketch. He said he was only doing one drawing a day. So I found a dealer selling these glasses and purchased one for Mr. Cockrum to signed. I’m glad I did as he has since passed away. You can click the image to see a larger version on flickr.
